If GLS cannot deliver your parcel to you personally, your neighbour or a nearby ParcelShop for your collection, you can choose what happens next. Parcel redirection and the fulfilment of the chosen options are free of charge.
Select options - how and when
In many cases, you can choose between several delivery options even before the first delivery attempt. This is possible if the sender has created the prerequisites for it. In this case, we inform you by e-mail and send the corresponding link to you, which gives access to the FlexDelivery delivery options.
Parcel redirection is available for all GLS parcels, regardless of the sender – for the second delivery attempt. To use the parcel redirection, you need the Track ID, which you can find on the notification card. You can select an option as soon as your parcel is back in the depot. Parcel redirection is not possible, if a parcel is already delivered to a GLS ParcelShop or a neighbour.

After a first unsuccessful delivery attempt at the chosen consignee the parcel will be delivered at a neighbour of the consignee or at a GLS ParcelShop in the vicinity (alternative delivery), unless, with respect to the specific circumstances, there are well-founded doubts that the alternative delivery corresponds to the interests involved. Neighbour shall be defined as a person who lives or works in the same or next building. The consignee you have chosen will be notified of the alternative delivery via a notification card. In case the consignee which you have chosen granted GLS a permission to deposit the parcel, the parcel is deemed to be delivered when deposited at the place defined in the permission.
