Flexible Delivery

GLS informs the recipients in advance about the delivery of the goods sent and provides them with a wide range of options to choose from.

As soon as the ordered products are ready for shipment, the recipients receive an e-mail or a text message containing information about the future delivery of GLS shipments. The message contains all the important information about the shipment, the contact number of the customer relations department and a direct link to the GLS Delivery Management Menu.

The service is expressly requested by the GLS contract client (sender of the postal consignment). This online tool allows recipients to choose from a variety of delivery options. For example, they can select a new delivery date or a new address

On the morning of the delivery day, GLS sends a second email or text message containing a three-hour delivery interval to the recipient. The message also contains the courier's phone number. At this time, the GLS Delivery Management Menu can no longer be used.

First delivery attempt failed?

If the first delivery attempt was unsuccessful, GLS will automatically send a third email or text message to the recipient.

At this point, the individual recipient is again able to choose from the delivery options for the second delivery attempt from the GLS Delivery Management Menu.

Detailed procedure

Senders receive orders, prepare dispatches for shipment and transfer the usual shipping data to GLS via the shipping system - and additionally the email address and mobile phone number of the recipient of the prepared goods.

This way, the flexible delivery options for this shipment are activated. GLS informs the recipients by email or text message about the future shipment and estimated delivery interval.

GLS also sends a link that leads directly to the GLS Delivery Management Menu, where recipients can choose from several delivery options - and can influence the delivery of the shipped goods, according to their personal needs.

When the courier scans the deliveries in the morning, a second email or text message, containing the exact date and delivery interval, is automatically sent to the recipient. The message also contains the courier's phone number. At this time, the GLS Delivery Management Menu can no longer be used.

If the first delivery attempt is unsuccessful, GLS automatically notifies the recipients by email or text message. The message contains a link that leads directly to the GLS Delivery Management Menu on the web page, where all shipping delivery options are available, and the recipients can again choose what happens next.
