From this article you will learn in detail what cash on delivery is all about. You will find answers to questions such as: how can the recipient make payment and when do the funds reach the sender's account?

CashService, popularly known as COD (Cash On Delivery, or payment on delivery), is a very popular solution. It is offered by most online stores.

What is cash on delivery?

In the simplest terms, the service is that the recipient pays for the goods on delivery. When and how does the seller receive the money in the transaction? At GLS, cash-on-delivery payment is processed through CashService. It works as follows;

● The sender sends the package to the recipient with the additional service - CashService.

● GLS courier accepts cash from the recipient when delivering the package, or the payment is made cashless - via payment card or BLIK method.

● GLS transfers the money safely and quickly to the designated account of the sender.

● How long does it take? The funds are credited to the shipper's account up to a maximum of 7 business days after delivery of the shipment.

● Transfers for shippers with collection returns are made collectively by GLS, and a specification is provided for each transfer (if it contains more than 11 parcels) that lists the shipments accounted for in the transfer. Upon request, the customer can receive a specification for the transfer for a smaller number of packages.

Important information:

● CashService is available only for parcels shipped domestically and parcels shipped from 6 GLS East Europe partner countries for delivery in Poland.

● The maximum designated amount of CashService is up to 6,000 PLN per shipment when paid in cash, for non-cash payments it is 19,999 PLN.

Cash-on-delivery courier. Who uses it and when?

As we noted, cash on delivery is a solution used quite often. What is the reason for this? There are several reasons. There are customers who simply do not like to pay in advance, but only when they pick up the package from the courier. They simply think it's safer that way. Others prefer to test the online store first, that is, they just make their first purchase on delivery. When they are satisfied with the shopping process and gain confidence, they often later decide to pay by bank transfer or through an online quick payment system directly after ordering the goods. But trust or lack thereof is not always at stake For some people, cash on delivery is simply more convenient, as it avoids various additional steps and formalities in the online store, such as logging in to the bank.
