Delivering parcels in Finland

Receiving parcels via GLS is always easy and effortless, and the exact delivery process of the parcel depends on the type of recipient and the additional services that the sender is using.

Parcels to private recipients

The private recipients' parcels are usually delivered to a collection point, in the case of Finland, to a local post office. You can track your shipment at every stage in the GLS tracking system. Once the parcele has arrived at the pickup point you will receive an arrival notification via SMS, email or letter, depending on the contact information recorded for the shipment. The arrival notice also shows the address and opening information of the pickup point. If the arrival notice has been lost, you can also find this information on the Posti Group’s website with their tracking code, starting with JJFI, which is shown in GLS’ tracking when the package has arrived in Finland. When you retrieve the parcel, you need photo ID, as well as either an arrival notification or the Posti Group’s tracking code that starts with JJFI.

Large or heavy (over 35 kg/package) or multi-parcel shipments can also be delivered to retail customers’ addresses. In these cases, the delivery is attempted during working hours, and if the recipient is not reached, an arrival notification is left about the shipment.

Parcels for corporate recipients

Parcels for companies and other organisations are delivered to their premises. You can track your shipment in GLS’ parcel tracking and thus prepare for the arrival of the delivery. If the delivery fails (for example, if the company is closed), an arrival notice is left at the address (if possible) and, depending on the region, the shipment will be delivered to a local post office or returned to the distribution centre to wait for a second delivery attempt.

FlexDeliveryService parcels

If the sender has selected the FlexDeliveryService add-on service, you can amend the shipment delivery flexibly, whether you are a company or a private recipient. In FlexDeliveryService, after sending the parcel, you will receive an email with a link that enables you to amend the delivery of your parcel:

Request that the parcel is delivered to the post office of your choice.
Request that the parcel is left in a SmartPost parcel locker of your choice.
Request delivery to the premises (business addresses only)
Change the delivery address for the parcel (business addresses only)

After the amendment, delivery will take place according to your instructions. You can make amendments until the parcel has arrived in Finland and transferred to domestic distribution. If you do not make any amendments to the delivery of the parcel, it will be delivered according to the default delivery methods listed above, depending on the address type.
