Financial Accountant Assistant

We currently require a Financial Accountant Assistant to join our Finance Team. This role carries a high level of implied authority/ Flexibility, trust, initiative and discretion are required to actively and effectively support the Finance Department.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain general ledger accounts for the production of financial statements and reports
  • Reconcile, analyse and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month/year end close
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register
  • Preparation of general journals, accruals, prepayments and expenses
  • Variance analysis, i.e. monthly budget vs. actual reporting with corrective actions as required
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Preparation of VAT/VIES/46G returns
  • Responsibility for internal and external audits
  • Participate in and provide support in company projects where required
  • Assist in the development of both financial and operational reports
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget process and (re) forecasting process
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Part qualified with recognised professional body
  • 2-5 years accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel
  • Excellent knowledge in MS Windows (MS Office)
  • Knowledge and understanding of an ERP system such as SAP
  • Previous experience in Distribution/Parcel business – Preferred not essential

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in Parcels/Distribution/Services industry is a bonus but not required
