supplement to the General Business Terms of GLS Hungary

concerning parcel delivery and handling and

to the General Business Terms applicable to GLS ParcelShop Customers (‘ParcelShop GBC’)

for the duration of and with a view to the State of Emergency

This supplement to the General Business Terms and General Business Terms applicable to GLS ParcelShop Customers (‘ParcelShop GBC’) forms part of the Service Provider’s General Business Terms regarding postal services (“General Business Terms” or “GBC”) and ParcelShop GBC that do not replace domestic and export universal postal services GBC and ParcelShop GBC, with the provisions applying with a view to the State of Emergency during the State of Emergency.

In the Government Decree no.40/2020 (11 March) on the declaration of a state of emergency, the Government declared a state of emergency (hereinafter: State of Emergency), which means a special legal order, as specified in Article 53 of the Basic Law. The purpose of declaring the State of Emergency is to prevent the consequences of the human epidemic causing the COVID-19 disease and to protect the health and lives of Hungarian citizens. The state of emergency was extended in Act XII/2020 on the containment of coronavirus, which declared that the decision to repeal this act and thereby to terminate the state of emergency will be taken by Parliament.

The purpose of this document and supplement is to set out special rules not included in or different from the General Business Terms and from the ParcelShop GBC for the duration of the state of emergency in order to minimise personal contacts related to the provision of services, in accordance with the epidemic control measures.

In matters not covered by the documents, the provisions of the General Business Terms and ParcelShop GBC shall continue to apply.

Point 8 of the General Business Terms – “Parcel weight and size limits” – is amended or supplemented as follows.

In Europe, the maximum weight limit for dispatching export and import parcels is 31.5 kg per piece. European export and import parcels exceeding this limit will not always be forwarded. GLS Hungary weighs the parcels on a certified scale, and if it finds during the weighing that the parcel exceeds the above weight limit, the parcel will be returned to the sender. If the country of destination does not accept the consignment or rejects it on the grounds that the parcel exceeds the above weight limit, GLS Hungary will return the consignment to the sender. There is no time delivery guarantee for these shipments.

Point 8 of the General Business Terms shall continue to apply to matters of parcel weight and size limits not covered by the above paragraph.

Point 6.3.1 of the ParcelShop GBC is amended or supplemented as follows.

If the country of destination does not accept the consignment or rejects it on the grounds that the parcel exceeds the above weight limit, GLS Hungary will return the consignment to the sender or to the ParcelShop. There is no time delivery guarantee for these shipments.

Point 6.3.1. of the ParcelShop GBC shall continue to apply to matters of parcel weight and size limits not covered by the above paragraph.

This supplement to the General Business Terms and the rules contained therein shall apply from 15 May 2020.

This supplement to the General Business Terms may be applied for 30 days after the termination of the state of emergency, after which the provisions of this document shall automatically expire.
