Customs – GLS to rely on experience

GLS has for many years been a reliable partner for parcel deliveries across Europe and the world. The parcel service provider is able to utilise existing, proven processes for smooth imports and exports, including deliveries requiring customs clearance. As a subsidiary of the UK’s Royal Mail Group, GLS enjoys special opportunities to give its customers extensive support when sending to the UK.

Important for non-EU deliveries

It can generally be said that there are still outstanding questions regarding customs regulations after Brexit. We will keep you updated with the latest developments.

Businesses require an Economic Operators’ Registration and Identification (EORI) number for deliveries to countries outside of the EU. Applications for this number can be submitted online to SOPRANO-EORI https://www.service-public.fr/professionnels-entreprises/vosdroits/R12032 . In case of problems, you can contact the Pôle d’Action Economique (PAE) of your region, or Customs Authorities by phone 0811 20 44 44.

GLS is currently preparing various options for customs clearance that are tailored to sender needs. As standard, exports to the UK can use individual or collective clearance for commercial goods.
