Parcel logistics for movie enthusiasts: With its services, GLS supports the European Film Academy in selecting and awarding the "European Oscars".

"And action!" From 2012 onwards GLS will take part inof the European Film Awards. The sponsoring includes all the parcel logistics for the selection procedure and award ceremony. Each year the approx. 2,500 members of the European Film Academy (EFA) select the winners in 16 different categories. The EFA sends each member a parcel with DVDs containing the films proposed for nomination.

GLS delivers the DVDs to EFA members simultaneously, so that they all have the same amount of time to evaluate them. The delivery addresses are both home addresses and filming locations all around the world. Delivering these parcels to top international stars such as Jeanne Moreau and Sir Ben Kingsley requires precise coordination between GLS, the EFA and the recipients.

Before the EFA hands over the silver trophies in Malta on 1 December, GLS collects them from a jeweller in London and conveys them to the Mediterranean island. The names of the winners are kept strictly secret until the ceremony, and therefore the statuettes are initially unengraved. Following the TV gala, GLS takes them to be engraved and then delivers them to the lucky winners.

In recent years, Roman Polanski, Penélope Cruz and Ewan McGregor, for example, have received European Film Awards.
