We focus on energy-saving initiatives and the use of 100% green energy at all our depots. Our goal is to minimize our environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future. 100% green electricity

At GLS Denmark, we take pride in using 100% certified green energy at all our locations.

Our commitment to sustainability is documented through certification from Ørsted, covering the period from April 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. This means that all the energy we consume is offset by renewable energy produced by European wind farms.

For 2024, we have entered into an agreement with EnergiFyn. This agreement ensures that the energy supplied to our depots in Denmark comes from wind farms near Nejst in Northern Jutland. This step not only ensures that our activities are sustainable but also contributes to the green transition in the energy sector.

Energy Optimization Initiatives

Since 2016, all GLS Denmark depots have undergone two mandatory energy audits. These audits are conducted by qualified energy consultants who map and analyze our energy consumption to identify potential savings. Based on their recommendations, we have implemented energy-saving measures such as replacing conventional lighting with LED, installing heat pumps, and solar panels on three of our depots. These initiatives help us cover part of our daytime energy consumption and support our goal of creating energy-optimized locations.

ISO certification

To deliver the highest quality to our customers, we strive to ensure that our internal processes meet global standards. Therefore, ISO certifications are an essential part of our quality assurance system. The GLS Group has been ISO certified since 2013, with ISO 9001 recognizing our effective quality management and ISO 14001 focusing on our environmental management.

Our ISO certifications involve thorough quality assurance with clearly defined processes, quality guidelines, and regular audits. With group certifications, all GLS companies commit to the same high standards. A negative evaluation of a single company would consequently affect the entire group, which requires streamlined management of our internal processes to maintain ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certification.

Auditing is conducted in collaboration with DEKRA, a globally recognized player in management system certifications.

The road to a Sustainable GLS

We are aware that we have an impact on the environment around us. This requires everyone in the GLS Group to work together for a greener GLS. This has created Climate Protect, which is the commitment of all GLS countries to reduce our environmental impact through CO2 reduction.
