GLS takes care of customs clearance. The central Customs Department completes and submits the electronic export declaration.

The consignor sends the customs invoice to the responsible GLS depot by e-mail or fax. The export declaration is issued prior to dispatch of the parcel.

  • Electronic processing according to the statutory customs regulations
  • No own software required
  • Round-the-clock customs declaration
  • Timely and complete documentation of the export declaration
  • Automatic return of the Export Accompanying Document

Background

Since July 2009 export declarations have had to be submitted electronically to customs authorities. This applies when shipping goods to non-EU countries and to countries that belong to EFTA (European Free Trade Association). Export declarations are made via ATLAS (Automated Tariff and Local Customs Clearance System).
