When using the GLS customs data capture, personal data will be collected and processed. The data processing will only take place in compliance with this policy, privacy laws and the Privacy information for consignors and consignees of General Logistics Systems Germany GmbH & Co. OHG (hereinafter: „GLS Germany“).

2. Data which is collected automatically

a) Logging of IP addresses

Each time a user accesses the GLS website, data is recorded in a log file. The following data is temporarily recorded:

  • Date and time of request
  • IP address or DNS name of the requesting computer
  • Requested page (URL)
  • HTTP answer code
  • Client operating system and version
  • Browser and version

The log file data is anonymously analysed for statistical purposes. Statistical reports are used to evaluate the usage of this website. In particular, the order in which the pages are visited and the path taken between pages is shown. This is intended to give GLS Germany an indication how the usability of the website can be improved further.

II. Purpose of Processing and Legal Basis

The data processing is necessary to comply with the legal custom regulations for the export of goods out of the European Union (EU). In this case the lawfulness of the data processing can be justified under Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. c) GDPR.

Your personal data is not being used for further purposes. A transfer of data is made exclusively to the parties involved in the process.

III. Retention and Erasure

As soon as the corresponding parcel numbers have been advised by the consignor or the corresponding parcels have been handed over to GLS, the customs data will be transmitted to the GLS IT-system for parcel processing. The customs data will be stored together with the corresponding parcel data for 10 years. If no corresponding parcel is advised or handed over to GLS within six days, the entered data will be deleted.
