Preventive measures

The safety and health of our employees, transport partners and customers is our top priority. Therefore, measures are into place to limit the spread of Covid-19 as much as possible and ensure the health of all.

  • Employees, transport partners and their drivers are informed in detail about the necessary hygiene measures and are expressly requested to respect them. All locations are equipped with suitable disinfectant and disposable towels. All drivers received also disinfectant lotion to disinfect their hands on a regular basis.
  • Thanks to the DepositService, GLS also offers to deliver your shipments to a specified location given by the consignee. This way, a signature is no longer required and contact is avoided. Download the release document .
  • You can also choose for a delivery without signature as a delivery options with our FlexDeliveryService.
  • The drivers also use paper delivery documents instead of their scanners so that the recipients can sign with their own pen and avoid any contact. In case the recipient does not accept this practice, they will be asked to give their name, which the driver will encode on the scanner.

All GLS subsidiaries implement the indicated preventive measures, according to the respective local requirements.

Current situation

Please make sure that the recipients to whom you are sending goods are accessible via the usual entrance. This is important call and can avoid being overwhelmed with goods that cannot be delivered. We would like to remind you that we have no choice but to return the undeliverable goods at the expense of the sender. This applies for shipments to/from all countries.

Cross-border services are available in the entire European network but some delays can occur due to sanitary measures (social distancing during the treatment of shipments) and high parcel volumes.

Download this document for a global overview of the situation in Europe.

Several ParcelShops and GLS ParcelLockers are open. You will find them on our search engine for ParcelShop and Depots.

Signatures on delivery cannot be guaranteed across Europe. Country-specific regulations are in place. However, the following data needs to be captured: Full name, date and time.

Parcels above 31.5 kg destined to all European countries are no longer accepted in the Parcel network. This measure is applied, as the loading and unloading of these parcels usually requires the assistance of the sender / recipient. This way, we guarantee the imposed "social distance". Keep in mind that those parcels can still be sent via our Freight network though.

For any special delivery requests, please contact our FreightSolution department to check the possibilities.
