Local and distribution logistics apprenticeships

Are you looking for a varied apprenticeship in a booming industry? That’s perfect, because we’re recruiting – all over Austria. This year, we are offering a local and distribution logistics apprenticeship for the first time and are looking for young, motivated and talented people who want to take the company from strength to strength. The aim of the apprenticeship is to turn you into a genuine all-rounder. Right from the start, you will not only be trained in the operating processes at the depot, but also in the administrative activities in the back office. You will also spend time in all company departments and work “in the field”. Ready to apply? Let’s go!

What we are looking for

You will have successfully completed compulsory schooling. School-level English and the use of standard MS Office programs are no problem for you. You are excited by the world of logistics. You are a strong character and a friendly, considerate team player.

What we offer

All doors are open to you: you will receive a varied and extensive apprenticeship, including the opportunity to train for management positions following your apprenticeship. We’ll also help you get around: as part of your apprenticeship, we will cover the costs of obtaining a driving licence and forklift licence.

What you will learn

Your apprenticeship will run for a total of three years and will be split between the company and a vocational college. You will be trained in all operating procedures involved in parcel handling at the depot and will also carry out commercial and distribution-related activities, such as customs clearance and drawing up quotes.

When and where you will be employed

We provide training throughout the year and offer apprenticeships at our sites in Ansfelden (Upper Austria), Anthering (Salzburg), Fürnitz (Carinthia), Kalsdorf (Styria), Leobendorf, Steinabrückl, Traismauer (Lower Austria), Zirl (Tyrol) and Rankweil (Vorarlberg).

We are offering places at our sites in Ansfelden (Upper Austria), Anthering (Salzburg), Fürnitz (Carinthia), Kalsdorf (Styria), Leobendorf, Steinabrückl, Traismauer (Lower Austria) and Zirl (Tyrol).

You will receive training in all operating procedures involved in parcel handling at the depot, scan incoming shipments and sort/reroute parcels. You will load parcels onto delivery vehicles, plan delivery routes and sometimes deliver parcels yourself.

You will also handle commercial and distribution-related tasks. You will take care of customs clearance and invoicing, draw up quotations, schedule appointments for field sales staff and offer services to customers. As part of the apprenticeship programme, you will also gain experience of various planning activities, as well as different departments at the company.

You will have excellent prospects in a high-growth industry. Here at GLS Austria, we nurture young talent and want you as part of the team after your apprenticeship. Thanks to the extensive apprenticeship, you will gain insights into all areas of the parcel industry. One of our main areas of focus is currently the development of new and sustainable delivery solutions for the last mile, with these solutions being used ever more often. But we are increasingly looking for people to join our teams in the depots, whether in the back office, customer service or sales.

You can look forward to a wide range of roles and development opportunities following your apprenticeship and – thanks to the current dynamic growth in the industry – you will also have excellent career prospects once you’ve completed the programme.
